Throughout his 32-year career with Komatsu, Max has held several positions of increasing responsibility in the product planning, design and development of various Komatsu products. He joined Komatsu Ltd. in 1982 as a truck design engineer.
From 2000 to 2003, he managed engineering for products produced at Komatsu America Corp's Chattanooga plant. Upon his return to Komatsu's headquarters in Japan in 2003, Max was appointed Product Manager, responsible for product planning for Komatsu's excavator line.
Immediately prior to his role as President and COO of Komatsu America, Max served as Executive Officer and General Manager, Construction Equipment Technical Center 1 of the Development Division for Komatsu Ltd. where he was in charge of overall management of Komatsu's development activities for construction equipment.
Max graduated from Keio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and received his Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University.
